The Mission of St. Augustine College Tutoring Center
The Tutoring Center at St. Augustine College strives to provide individualized instructional support in the areas of math, analytic reading, study methods, and the understanding of course-related content, the development of written assignments in multiple areas of study, and the editing of writing at each of its five locations within the Chicago area.
Since the beginning of COVID-19 our tutoring platform was primarily online; however, we have begun to open more in-person tutoring opportunities, please look closely at tutoring opportunities. Also, if you have in-person tutoring needs, please add that to your request and we will work with you to meet your needs. Please know that the Tutoring Center is here to support students as they navigate their way through online learning and beyond. Below is a general guide to the SAC Tutoring Center process as well as a variety of resources to help assist students in their academic studies. You can access a copy of the current Student Services Center Resource Guide in either Spanish or English with all open tutoring times, scheduled workshops, and contact information by clicking the link below.

Open Writing Tutoring is available at the times on the Open Writing Tutoring Tab. If you are having difficulty and you need help at another time, please make an individual tutoring request.
Tutoring Requests for individuals or groups can be made by students, faculty, and advisors. Simply email the Tutoring Center Manager, Dennette Derezotes, at dderezotes@staugustine.lewisu.edu
Most students who do not wish to fill out an individual tutoring request, and want to jump into an open tutoring hour session, can view tutor availability in open tutoring for math or writing tutoring as appropriate. Math Tutoring hours are available below on this page and Writing Tutoring Hours can be found on the Open Writing Tutoring Tab. When you find the open tutoring that fits your needs, simply click on the desired session. Open tutoring hours are ongoing and are group-oriented. Students who need more assistance can email the Tutoring Center Manager at dderezotes@staugustine.lewisu.edu or fill out a tutoring form.
Students must provide necessary documents on assignments that they are working on, for tutors to be able to fully assist.

WORKSHOPS FOR FORMATTING IN MLA & APA
Formatting styles are developed by different organizations to create a systematic way to format papers as you prepare for different professions.
Two important formats are MLA (Modern Language Association) and APA (American Psychological Association). Anyone taking 100 level English courses including Composition I (ENG 160), Composition II (ENG 162) and Speech (ENG 165) as well as many of the General Education courses at St. Augustine College will need to know MLA. Students who take Psychology, Social Work or any social science course will need to know APA. You can get ahead by attending a workshop where you can learn how to format even begin your paper. Just hop on a Zoom workshop in week 2 or 3 and you can develop a template for any paper you have due. Below are the times for APA and MLA workshops in Week 2 and Week 3.
