Scanning Book Chapters or Articles

St. Augustine College Library Scanning Book Chapters or Articles

All students, faculty, and staff at St. Augustine College can request scans of book chapters or articles through the SAC Library website. This exciting new service is free for all students, faculty, and staff of the SAC community. Please allow 1-3 business days for all requests to be processed. Once a request is ready, an e-mail will be sent with the downloadable PDF request. If a request cannot be fulfilled an e-mail will be sent canceling the request.

Requesting a scan of an Article or a Book Chapter

In order to request a scan of a Book Chapter or an Article, please fill out the following form. Requests for articles can only be made for reference books and journals that the SAC Library owns. All other articles can be found through the database systems located on the SAC Library website.

Forms must be filled out as accurately as possible with all fields being completed.

Google Scholar can help in providing all the information needed to fill out the form and may also direct you to article access that is being requested.

Requesting a scan from Course Reserves

SAC will be providing an alternative means for requesting book chapters from course textbooks. Depending on the availability of the textbook, SAC Librarians will regulate scans according to what can be accessed through the Library materials.

What can be requested?

  • Book chapters and articles must be 50 pages or less. One chapter or article per request.
  • Books published before 1923 may exceed 50 pages but must still adhere to the limits below.

  • One book chapter or article for each request.
  • Three chapters from books within the public domain (published prior to 1923).
  • Textbooks on reserve must be submitted through Request a Course Reserve Scan.
  • Books that are checked out will not be able to be scanned.
  • No rush processing. All requests will take 1-3 business days to complete.
  • Entire book requests that are sent chapter by chapter through the request forms are a violation of copyright laws and will be canceled.
  • This service is not a replacement for purchasing required course textbooks. We cannot guarantee that a textbook will be available for scanning services.

Request Limits:

  • No more than 5 requests will be processed for SAC Library patrons in one day.
